What Is Maltodextrin?

Maltodextrin is a versatile, non-sweet nutritive saccharide polymer derived from the partial hydrolysis of starchy sources such as corn, potato, rice, or wheat. Manufactured using safe and suitable acids and enzymes, it is typically processed into a white, odorless powder or concentrated solution. The primary active components are D-glucose units linked predominantly by α-1,4 bonds, with a dextrose equivalent (D.E.) strictly maintained below 20.
