Nervonic acid
What Is Nervonic acid?
Nervonic acid is primarily derived from plant seed oils, with Malania oleifera (garlic fruit) containing the highest concentration at approximately 47%–51%, followed by Acer truncatum (purple maple) and Xanthoceras sorbifolium (yellowhorn).
Benefits
Brain Health & Cognitive Function: As a key structural component of brain cell membranes, nervonic acid supports cognitive performance.
Myelin Sheath Repair: It plays a critical role in the biosynthesis and repair of myelin, the protective sheath surrounding nerve fibers.
Neuroprotection: Nervonic acid may help protect neurons from oxidative damage.
Infant Brain Development: It contributes to proper neural development and myelination in infants.
Anti-inflammatory Properties: It exhibits mild anti-inflammatory effects, supporting overall nerve and cardiovascular health.
Applications
Nervonic Acid can be added to dietary supplements (e.g., capsules, tablets, soft gels, gummies), food and beverages (e.g., functional drinks, infant formulas, health tonics, baked goods), cosmetics (e.g., anti-aging creams, moisturizing serums, soothing lotions, facial masks), and animal feed (e.g., poultry feed, aquaculture feed).
