Betulinic Acid
What Is Betulinic Acid?
Betulinic Acid is a pentacyclic triterpenoid characterized as a white crystalline powder.
Betulinic Acid was first discovered in the bark of Rhamnaceae evergreens in East Africa in the 1990s and is mainly derived from plants such as birch bark, dandelion leaves and jujube kernels.
Product Applications
1. Anti-tumor effect
Betulinic Acid was first found to be selectively cytotoxic to melanoma cells. In recent years, it has also been found to have a strong broad-spectrum activity on other tumor cells.
2. Anti-inflammatory effect
Most pentacyclic triterpenoids have anti-inflammatory activity. Betulin and Betulinic Acid are both mildly anti-inflammatory at higher concentrations.
3. Anti-hyperlipidemia effect
Some studies have found that Betulinic Acid and its derivatives can play an anti-hyperlipidemia role by regulating adipocytokines, reducing lipid production, and reducing triacylglycerol and total cholesterol levels.
