What Is Chitosan?

Chitosan is the product of natural polysaccharide chitin to remove part of the acetyl group, with biodegradability, biocompatibility, non-toxicity, antibacterial, anti-cancer, lipid reduction, immunity enhancement and other physiological functions, widely used in food additives, textile, agriculture, environmental protection, beauty and health care, cosmetics.

The amino group in the molecular structure of chitosan is more active than the acetyl amino group in the molecular structure of chitin, which makes the polysaccharide have excellent biological functions and can be chemically modified. Therefore, chitosan is considered as a functional biomaterial with greater application potential than cellulose.

Product Applications

Chitosan is a natural polysaccharide compound, which can be extracted from the shell of shrimp, crab, lobster and other animals. The effect of chitosan is generally antibacterial and blood lipid lowering, while its effect is to promote metabolism and protect the liver.

1. Antibacterial: chitosan has a broad spectrum of antibacterial effect, can inhibit the growth of a variety of bacteria and fungi, can be used to make food preservative, medical dressing and disinfectant.

2. Lowering blood lipids: chitosan components can reduce the levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, thus playing a role in lowering blood lipids, which has certain benefits for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

3. Promote metabolism: chitosan has a certain activity, can promote the body metabolism, but also can help improve the body's immunity, can help enhance physical fitness.

4. Liver protection: chitosan can promote the regeneration and repair of liver cells, and has a certain protective effect on liver.
